Oftentimes rohypnol is taken unintentionally, being given it by someone else. In these situations, a person may add it to drinks because when mixed with alcohol all the effects, both psychologicl and physical, are increased. After a few 10 minutes, the victim may feel dizzy, disoriented, nauseas, have a difficult time speaking, and pass out. these conditions make it very easy for predators to assault one who was slipped the rohypnol (Kansas State University).
A very common user of rohypnol are heroin, cocaine or amphetamine users. It is used to enhance the high they are in by creating the sensation of intoxication, or relieve their withdrawl symptoms.
in 2001, 1.1% 8th graders had used rohypnol at least once while 1.7% of high school senior had used the drug. The majority of users are Hispanic opposed to the users of other designer drugs, who most oftentimes are caucasian. This is most likely because, although illegal in the U.S, it can be easily obtained from Mexico.
