Of the drugs marketed in the United States that affect central nervous system function, benzodiazepines are among the most widely prescribed medications. Rohypnol specifically is prescribed to treat anxiety, panic attacks, and insomnia

Rohypnol is a powerful sedative, which calms and soothes one. To do so, it depresses the central nervous system of the body. This drug is classified as a depressant, which slows down normal body functions. When mixed with alcohol it creates disinhibition and amnesia as well.
